Tonight she honors the American jazz singer Anita O’Day. While perhaps not as famous as Peggy Lee or Billie Holliday, O’Day – who started her career in the swing era of the 1930s and continued to sing until her death in 2006 – put her own mark on 20th century vocal jazz with her expressive and slightly lived singing voice. She set many standards to her will, with which the Flora Jazz Group is following in her footsteps tonight.\n
